I joined The Zia Singers when I moved to Santa Fe and we now have 65 members. Our spring concert features the wonderful
"Washington Women" by Judith Clurman and David Chase—the text is culled from speeches and writing of Michelle Obama, Hillary Clinton, RBG, Barbara Bush, and many other women of note. At some point every choir member has gotten choked up while rehearsing: this is a timely, powerful, moving work.
The second half has several shorter pieces, including my favorite, the incredibly hooky
"What Happens When a Woman" by Alexandra Olavsky. Yours truly sings the solo that starts the piece at our Sunday performance.
